For the 12th edition of Paris Internationale, Gunia Nowik Gallery is pleased to show a duo-presentation by Polish photographer Teresa Gierzyńska (b. 1947) and Ukrainian painter Sana Shahmuradova Tanska (b. 1996). Bringing together two artists from different generations and cultural contexts, the presentation traces a feminist inquiry into embodiment, identity, and the shifting boundaries between personal and collective experience.
A pioneering figure in Polish feminist art, Gierzyńska is represented through a selection from her seminal series About Her (1976–1995), in which photography becomes both a performative record and an experimental medium for articulating psychological and emotional states. Shahmuradova Tanska presents new paintings and painterly objects where mythology, memory, and lived experience converge in fluid, dreamlike compositions, reflecting on care, resilience, and the body as a vessel of memory.
Together, the artists create an intergenerational dialogue in which vulnerability becomes a form of agency and identity emerges as something continually negotiated rather than fixed. Through photography and painting, their works offer distinct yet resonant perspectives on the enduring complexities of embodied experience.
Paris Internationale is a collegial initiative established in 2015 as an innovative alternative to traditional art fairs, supporting a new generation of galleries. Now in its 12th edition, it has grown into a pivotal platform for promoting the work of emerging artists while also creating space to rediscover more established voices. We look forward to seeing you in Paris!
